2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer

The 2023 Chevy Trailblazer is available in four trim levels: the base LS, the mid-range LT, the off-road-themed Activ, and the range-topping RS. It's available in Summit White and several two-tone varieties: Mosaic Black/Summit White, Blue Glow Metallic/Summit White, Vivid Orange/Summit White, Nitro Yellow Metallic/Summit White, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat/Summit White, and Sterling Gray/Summit White. Additional standard and available features include 17- or 18-inch bright silver aluminum wheels, roof rails, and LED foglights.

The new Trailblazer is available in one of two powertrains, depending on whether you choose front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Front-wheel drive models (the standard) get a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that delivers 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). If you decide to go for an all-wheel drive model, you get a more powerful turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder powertrain that delivers 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The Trailblazer is quite adept at cornering, with low body roll and outstanding control. It features athletic steering and authoritative acceleration and braking for a vehicle with its engine size. The Activ trim brings more rugged off-road-oriented features including special off-road tires and off-road-tuned suspension to better mitigate bumps and jars. You also get underbody skid plates and a tow hitch receiver, allowing a maximum towing and trailering capacity of 1,000 pounds. At this trim, you also get dual exhaust pipes to help manage engine power better.

The Trailblazer has a well-appointed cabin with plenty of space for passengers in the front and back: 40 inches of headroom and 40.9 inches of legroom up front, and 38.4 inches of headroom with 39.4 inches of legroom in the back. It offers 25.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back seats, expandable to a maximum of 54.4 cubic feet with seats down. Tech features include wireless smartphone integration and an attractive touchscreen interface with snappy responsiveness. Also available is a premium Bose sound system with seven speakers.

The basic safety features on every Trailblazer include front collision warning and mitigation with automatic emergency braking as well as automatic high beams and lane departure warning with lane keeping assistance. A Driver Confidence package offers blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warnings and rear parking sensors. Add the Technology package to get adaptive cruise control and a high-resolution rearview camera to help you always see what's going on around you. It gets an overall 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA and is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+.
