Safety is very important when you’re driving, and Chevy has your back. Chevy Safety Assist is a bundle of safety features you get with all models that actively protect you and your passengers. As your Chevy dealer, we want to tell you more about how these Chevy safety features enhance your driving experience.

Forward Collision Assist

This feature utilizes cameras and radar to track any vehicle in front of you. If it detects something, the system determines the distance between the other vehicle’s rear bumper and the front of your Chevy and the possibility of a collision based on relative speeds. It provides both visual and audio alerts to warn you of the danger.

If you don’t take corrective action in time, emergency braking will be activated. The system will slow your vehicle or bring it to an instant stop to prevent an accident.

Following Distance Indicator

This helpful feature measures the gap between your Chevy and any vehicle ahead of you. It calculates the distance in seconds based on both vehicle’s speeds and displays the figure on your windshield. This information enables you to decide if you’re following at a safe distance so you can take corrective action if necessary.

Lane Keeping Assist

The lane-keeping system recognizes road lines and attempts to keep you in the center of your lane at all times. If it detects that you’re inadvertently drifting out of your lane, the system will give you visual and audio alerts and gently turn the wheel to move your Chevy back into the lane again.

Front Pedestrian Braking

Similar to the vehicle warning systems above, pedestrian braking detects pedestrians walking or standing in the path of your vehicle. Visual and audio warnings will inform you of the impending danger. The system will immediately apply emergency braking to prevent an accident or reduce the damage caused.

IntelliBeam

Your headlights are essential for night driving, and you’ll automatically switch to high beams if there are no other vehicles around to improve your vision. High beams can be distracting or even temporarily blinding for a driver heading in your direction, and physically switching the beams can distract you.

IntelliBeam solves this problem by switching to low beams when necessary and then switching back to high beams if no vehicles are identified ahead of you.

Automatic Emergency Braking

As we’ve seen above, emergency braking can be triggered to stop your Chevy ASAP.

Additional Systems

Many other safety systems may be standard or available depending on your Chevy model. These systems include rear park assist, rear camera mirror, and rear pedestrian alert.
