Technology is rapidly progressing in nearly every vehicle we drive, but many Chevy models have the latest and greatest. Gone are the days where you have to take your eyes off the road to do something as simple as look at your dashboard. With the Chevy Head-Up Display, you can monitor your dash all from the convenience of your windshield.
What is a Head-Up Display?
A head-up display, or HUD, is a digital image of your dashboard projected right on to your windshield. All of the normal components you would find on a regular dash are there, including speed, navigation, time, alerts, etc, just without the extra step of looking away from the road. Unlike a normal dashboard, however, a HUD is more customizable and comes with the added safety advantage of keeping your eyes on what’s ahead.
Features
Like many of its kind, the Chevy HUD is fully customizable. You can choose which information you want to display from your dash and when, including speed limits and safety alerts. You can also adjust the height and brightness by using the up and down or plus and minus buttons, located on the instrument panel to the left or right of the steering wheel, depending on the model.
Benefits
There are many advantages to using a HUD as opposed to an ordinary dashboard. One of the key benefits, however, is increased safety. With a HUD, you don’t have to look away from your windshield to monitor things such as your speed, alerts, or navigation. This can help increase driver awareness and reduce the likelihood of collisions by letting you focus on the road.
Tips
To keep your Chevy HUD operating at its best performance level, keep the windshield and display lens (located on top of your dashboard) clean and free of any obstructions. Make sure to wipe down your windshield regularly using good-quality materials, as well as routinely check for cracks, divots, and chips. For the HUD lens, it’s best to be gentle and use a soft cloth when cleaning due to its fragile nature.
For best forward visibility, keep the Head-Up Display as low as possible in your field of vision. This will let you see more of what’s in front of you without much distraction. You’ll also want to keep the brightness levels low to reduce glare and strain on the eyes.
