A gray Chevrolet Equinox

The 2023 Chevy Equinox is the latest edition of this well-known family of crossover SUVs. Noted for its stylish and appealing lines, Equinox is now in its third generation. It has great cabin space and is packed full of goodies. Four trim levels are available this year, the LS, LT, RS, and Premier, each with numerous additional features. Let’s take a look under the hood and inside the 2023 model.

Engine, Transmission, and Drivetrain

The engine is the center of any great car, and the Equinox is powered by a robust and reliable turbocharged DOHC 16-valve inline-4 1.5L engine. Chevy’s engine modifications have raised its performance from the previous year’s 170HP to 175HP and increased the torque to 203lbs. You can feel the difference when you step on the gas.

The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual shifting mode. FWD drivetrain is standard, but AWD is an option on all trim models. The Equinox handles well, and steering is easy and direct. Shifting is smooth and fast, and the manual shifting option is a bonus.

Fuel Economy

The engine and transmission are geared towards fuel economy, which you can see in its MPG. The standard FWD produces a healthy 26MPG in the city and 31MPG on the highway. Replacing the FWD for AWD produces a minor reduction to 24MPG city and 30MPG highway.

Cabin Interior

One of every driver’s favorite features of the Equinox is its comfy and spacious interior. As a crossover, space can be at a premium, but the Equinox provides enough room and amenities for all five passengers to feel relaxed. The six-speaker audio system and satellite radio help to make even a long drive more enjoyable

The standard LS trim has a 7″ touch screen, and AndroidAuto and AppleCarPlay are included. Bluetooth, 2 USB ports, and 4G LTE onboard WiFi provide plenty of ways to stay in touch. You can add to these features with the LS Convenience package, which includes an enhanced multi-colored driver information display, power-adjustable driver’s seat, and rear privacy glass.

Safety Features

Safety is vitally important, and the Equinox has earned been awarded a 5-star rating by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA). Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning.

In addition, automatic high-beam headlights, rear-seat alert, and a rearview camera are part of the standard package. For additional safety, you can add rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

These are just some of the highlights. To get the full effect, you need to see the Equinox in person. Call us today at Mike Kelly Chevrolet and book a test drive.
