When we climb into our vehicles, our primary concern is to reach our destination safely. You can learn more about all the car safety features at your Chevy dealer, but here’s a rundown of some of the best to look at. Some of these are available standard on some trims, some are part of packages, and all are worth considering.

Chevy Safety Assist Suite

Chevy Safety Assist is a suite of safety features that help protect you while you’re on the road. It consolidates six advanced safety technologies into one comprehensive package. Automatic Emergency Braking works in tandem with Forward Collision Alert to mitigate or avoid frontal collisions by automatically applying hard braking when necessary. Front Pedestrian Braking operates under similar principles but prevents collisions with pedestrians.

The Following Distance Indicator assists in maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, providing real-time gap measurements. The Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning system is designed to keep you safely within your lane by alerting you if you begin to drift unintentionally. Rounding out this collection is the Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist, which toggles your high-beam headlamps on and off depending on the surrounding traffic conditions.

Teen Driver Technology

Chevrolet’s commitment to safety extends to the newest drivers in the family with the Teen Driver technology. This feature is designed to encourage responsible driving habits in teenagers. Teen Driver technology provides a number of customizable settings associated with a specific key fob. When this key fob is used, the vehicle can limit certain features and automatically engage certain safety systems.

For example, Teen Driver can engage the Buckle-to-Drive feature, which prevents the vehicle from shifting from park for up to 20 seconds if the driver’s seatbelt isn’t fastened. It also provides an in-vehicle report card which displays information about driving habits. It’s a proactive way of teaching younger drivers about the importance of safety and equipping them with the skills they need for a lifetime of responsible driving.

Other Options

Another available safety feature in Chevrolet vehicles is the Adaptive Cruise Control. This feature maintains a driver-selected gap time from the vehicle ahead, reducing the need for frequent braking and acceleration.

Rear Park Assist and Rear Vision Camera

Parking challenges are made simpler with the Rear Park Assist feature, which offers distance alerts for objects detected behind the vehicle, helping to prevent collisions. The Rear Vision Camera additionally provides a view of the area directly behind the vehicle, facilitating more accurate and safer parking.
